The children have settled back really well, and they have been enjoying lots of activities so we can get to know one another.

We have made our own Playdough, practised writing our names, explored the play shed and sensory playground and even had time to make (and eat) cakes!

We are very exited for the year ahead and all of the wonderful things we will learn together,

We have started our first literacy topic, focusing on the story ‘Monkey Puzzle’ by Julia Donaldson.

The children have really enjoyed exploring the characters in the story, hunting for the animals, drawing the monkey in drawing club and even riding the elephant.

We have also enjoyed a community drive to explore our local town using a map.

On Friday, the children also enjoyed making their own sandwiches and having a picnic to celebrate the end of their first full week.

Well done Indigo class, what a great start to our year.

The children have been working on character descriptions in Literacy, describing the characters from ‘Monkey Puzzle’. We have been exploring money in maths and we have also made….. Christmas cards!?! (We aren’t going mad, I promise…).

The children have had a lovely week and it’s lovely seeing friendships blossom and new friendships being made.

In PSHE, we have been thinking about ourselves and what we like. The children have been making beautiful collages.

And to no our week, we had a coffee and cake morning which we shared with our families.

We are learning about animals in our science topic and so we took a trip to Liverpool museum to explore their animals, including an aquarium, prehistoric animals and bugs exhibition.

It has been a very busy week, but we have had so much fun,

It’s all about a Hen who wants to make bread, but her friends don’t help her, so she has to do it by herself.

The children are loving the characters and learning about the farm.

So far, we have enjoyed acting out the story, farm small world play, writing about the characters, making bread and lots more.

We have also enjoyed learning about money in maths and setting up a tuck shop.

We have also enjoyed Forest school and learning about hedgehogs, which was really lovely.

Next week is our final week of the term! We will be continuing our story, but also enjoying Halloween themed activities to end the term.
