A massive welcome back to all our Silver class children! It has been a lovely few days getting to know each other, settling back into school and exploring our new surroundings.

We have been busy learning about what we like, enjoying phonics, maths, music and art, working together to create our very own class rules.

It has been wonderful to see everyone settling in so well, making new friends and getting to know their new classroom and teachers.

We have had a fantastic start, and as a class we are very excited all the new fun, learning and adventures that the rest of the year will bring!

What a fun‑filled week it has been in Silver Class — wow! We have started our new topic on natural disasters, focusing especially on volcanoes and how they work. The children have shown brilliant curiosity and engagement as we explore this exciting theme.

We also enjoyed our first trip out to Bickerstaffe Park, and what fun that was. The children were enthusiastic, settled, and full of smiles throughout the visit.

In class, we’ve had lots of literacy and numeracy learning, including reading, writing and practising analogue clocks — the children did amazingly well telling the time. We’ve also been baking cakes, always a huge hit with both children and staff.

Our art focus this week has been Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”, with the children creating their own interpretations using colour, movement and texture.

We’ve made great use of the light room and soft play, enjoying the new equipment and exploring sensory regulation through movement and calm spaces. And of course, we couldn’t forget the sensory playground — always a favourite and a brilliant way to round off such a big, exciting week.

Silver Class has truly shone this week.

This week in Silver Class has been an exciting one. We have been learning about natural disasters, and the children had the opportunity to create their own tornadoes, exploring how they form and move.

We enjoyed a wonderful trip to the local library, where the children explored a range of books and proudly showed staff their reading skills. We finished the visit by gathering together so the class teacher could read a story before heading back to school.

Our focus story this week has been “My World, Your World” — an engaging and interactive book that helped the children learn that while everyone is the same, we all have different likes and dislikes, different religions, and different ways of playing. Some children eat with chopsticks, others with a knife and fork, and the class loved exploring these differences.

We have also been learning about independence: walking to and from the shops, writing our own shopping lists, practising road safety, and even cooking our own cakes and breakfast. The children showed fantastic confidence and growing life skills throughout these activities.

And of course, we couldn’t forget Sooth and Groove in the light room — always a favourite and a brilliant way to support sensory regulation and relaxation.

What a fantastic week it has been in Silver Class

Wow, Silver Class, could we have fitted any more into one week?!

What a busy and exciting week we have had! We visited the sensory playground, where we practised our turn-taking skills while having lots of fun. We even enjoyed a game of hopscotch... but who was the winner?

The children have continued to amaze us with their phonics and maths skills, particularly while learning to tell the time using analogue clocks.

We also had a fantastic time at Forest School, exploring the outdoors, developing our independence and enjoying nature-based activities with our friends.

Our visit to Bickerstaffe Park was filled with laughter, fun and plenty of smiles. Our story of the week was "Your World, My World", which inspired lots of discussion and learning.

This week also included a visit to the local hub, and we were delighted to support the Macmillan Coffee Morning. To round off our busy week, the children enjoyed a relaxing and well-deserved pamper afternoon.

What a fantastic week it has been! We are so proud of everything the children have achieved and can't wait to see what next week brings.

We went to the park and the library on the bus and had a great time playing and reading with our friends.

In P.E, we completed a circuit of different activities and then we played parachute games… it was so much fun!

We ended the week with a spa afternoon as the children requested it again!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

This week in Silver Class has been a joyful and creative one. We have enjoyed making our own constellations using marshmallows and creating fuzzy moon rocks as part of our space-themed learning. We also made kites inspired by our story The Storm, where Grandad and his grandson search for a lost kite.

As part of our learning about space, we made planet-themed cookies and used different coloured icing sugars to represent the different planets. The children loved decorating their cookies and talking about the unique colours and features of each planet.

We have been learning lots of new things through hands-on activities and imaginative play. The children showed great creativity, followed instructions carefully, and enjoyed sharing their ideas with their friends. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the week.
