         <description><![CDATA[<p>The purpose of formative assessments is to help teachers adjust instruction based on student understanding. These can be quick checks, exit tickets, think pair shares, and quizzes. </p><p><br/></p><p>It can encourage higher order thinking because these can be open ended questions and real world problem scenarios. Having student think ahead of how to solve it - summative can be given at the end throughout student learning process. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Performance Based Tests allow us to see information of student daily improvement, process of learning, and demonstration of mastery specific skills. This is a more comprehensive view of student progress and overall learning! Performance Based Tests also allow students to get into the higher level thinking skills of application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. </p><p><br/></p><p>For example, designing a real world project based task. These can be case studies, stimulations, debates. Open ended questions lead to complex questions, students needing to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Standardized Testing at the end of the year, through modifications can be given for student learning.. by the end of the grade students are taking the same standardized test. This is punitive to students that can use alternative ways to show learning progression. </p><p><br/></p><p>Secondly, most assessments use lower order cognitive skills like recall and comprehension. This does not reflect the new learning goals.</p>]]></description>
