1. The quote by Picasso symbolises how art, any form that you can express yourself with, can help with many things. Confidence, clarity, making choices and more can be found. It means that it washes away issues as it can help you get your emotions out in a clearer way.

2. In terms of Spanish, I learnt so many different tenses (further helping me learn how to form paragraphs and more) so that I can communicate better. Communication skills (in terms of writing) really improved.

3. I think that it helps with giving me perspective. Analysing another persons entire life is hard to do, but it helps me gain opinions and be open-minded about the challenges they faced, through various things such as society, culture, family and more. Their artwork helps me understand their highs and lows, so it helps since I am able to get a sense of how their life was like.

4. The biggest insight and takeaway that I was able to find through the research of these two artists is that I could see how culture impacts ones way of expressing themselves. The two artists that I researched on had clear differences due to the fact that they put different aspects of their culture in their work.

5. My favourite artistic movement is cubism, just because it has such a rich history encircling it. After doing an extremely detailed research regarding the genre and the artists, I realise now why it was so important to the artists at the time (Juan Gris, Picasso, etc.) too rebel enough in order to make this genre. This was founded in the Enlightenment, a period of time where new ideas were made and opposed to. The art style itself was/is very brave for its time, making it my favourite as it changed the way millions looked at art.

1. It is true, art can for those who love it take you away from what is happening around you, the problems (symbolised by dust in the statement), and cause you to just appreciate the art.

2. During this unit, the skills I used include research skills, because I had to research during my research project to learn about my chosen artists and who they were.

3. Analysing an artist's work serves me in life because it opens up a new perspective of looking at art. Now, I can see art from a more artistic perspective as well as through the view of enjoying art, since now I have learned about an artwork which can help me understand other artworks because all arts of work have the elements and principles of art in some form or the other, and I have learned about this.

4. Some insights I got was how there were both similarities and differences between the artists. In terms of art, even while they may have different styles they might follow the same type of movement of art, or maybe even if they follow different movements of art there are similarities between them. Or, maybe the same thing inspires the different artists to paint, or sculpt, like maybe a theme of history, or gods.

5. One of my artists for the research project was Pablo Picasso, and I was really interested in his work, and his artistic movement was cubism, which makes it interesting for me. I like this artistic movement because they rejected the idea that art should represent nature, and found a new perspective which I found fascinating because at that time they wouldn't have known whether the world would accept it or not, but they still did it. They focused on the two-dimensional aspect of a canvas, and generally, the movement stood out since they took objects and changed them by realigning.

1. Pablo Picasso, one of the most influential and famous artists of all time. After researching about him for a significant amount of time, his quotes truly feel suited for his creative thoughts and emotions. This quote perfectly portrays the impact of art on one’s mind. The majority of us (I assume) lead relatively normal lives. At times everyday life can be quite boring and uninteresting, but art helps in bringing splashes of colour, joy and fun into our lives. It helps in resetting your mind after a hard day’s work and is therefore ‘washing away the dust from our everyday lives’. So to conclude, I think this quote beautifully communicates the purpose of art on general populace.

2. This unit has been quite challenging for me. But, in order to overcome a difficult challenge you must polish your skills and develop new ones. This is exactly what I have done this unit. In the middle of this unit, I realised that the difficulty threshold has been increased, so my laid back form of studying wouldn’t be enough to get the grades that I wanted. So, I disciplined myself in order to revise and polish my Spanish skills. The part that especially challenged me this unit was the research paper. I had never done a research paper in Spanish before, also, I started 1 week late (since I was absent due to covid) therefore making the task even more difficult. So, because of this handicap I was forced to develop my self management skills so that I could finish the task on time (without causing any health issues). I was also required to develop my Spanish communication skills since I was required to communicate my thoughts in more detail than I have ever had to before. Lastly, I developed my research skills as well since the majority of the task was based on research about artists, art styles, etc.

3. Previously, I had no idea about different artists and their art styles. So, when sir (Mr. Sachin) introduced the task to me, I was baffled, confused and in shock. But, over time, I understood the different forms of art and began to appreciate the beauty within certain artworks. For example, I really liked Picasso’s cubism because of it chaos. I think it perfectly represents the chaos that goes around my head therefore perfectly embodying my thoughts, emotions and personality. This unit forced me into analysing to artists, which previously seemed overwhelming and useless. But, after carefully researching and analysing these artists, I have learned how to be more cultured and understand the true meaning and beauty behind art. So, other than knowing a lot about my chosen artists, I also learned something much more valuable. I learned important values and lessons after analysing these 2 artists. To conclude, analysing 2 artists didn’t just increase my knowledge about art, but it also helped me discover my newfound love for art.

4. After researching about one Hispanic and Indian artist, I learned about the differences between both cultures. I learned about the beauty within each culture and how it has impacted its art. For example, I learned about how Indian culture (at the time of my chosen Indian artist) focused mainly on mythological and fantastical forms of art combined with a realistic style of art. Whereas Hispanic art was more abstract, colourful, bright and perceptive. After researching about both forms of art, I also developed my own taste in art (which leans more towards Hispanic form of art) and it helped me further understand the thought process and techniques that went behind each form of art. Lastly, I learned about the artists themselves. For example, I researched about their own life and how it influenced art as a whole. After analysing both forms of art, I began to understand that even if two artworks are extremely different, they can still be appreciated in their own unique ways.

5. My personal favourite art movement is surrealism. Even though I didn’t research much about surrealist art in my paper, I did come across this art movement in my art class. Surrealism is a form of art that combines imaginative forms, shapes, figures, etc to create a ‘surreal’ experience for the viewer. Salvador Dalí is one of the most influential surrealist artists of all time, and I am a fan of his works. I really like the way he manipulates different shapes and dimensions in order to create different themes and symbolism in his artwork. His art also contains an incredible amount of depth to it, and is quite perceptive as well. Picasso (one of my chosen artists) did create some surrealist art, but I wasn’t a big fan. But, he did create cubism which is another art form/movement which I was a big fan of. As mentioned before, I really liked how most of his cubism art is very chaotic and without much repetition. It personally appeals to me, because I have a very unorganised, and chaotic kind with many different confusing emotions, thoughts, etc. Essentially the reason why I like cubism so much is because it the artistic representation of my form of thinking, therefore allowing me to connect with this art on a deeper level. To conclude, I enjoyed the surrealist art movement because of its imaginative and creative use of shapes, lines, colours, dimensions, etc. I also liked the cubism movement since it best represented my mind, personality, thoughts, emotions, etc.

I think Pablo Picasso’ s statement points out how art can be a very relaxing and a unwinding part of your life where you can relax. He talks how art can be a distraction which keeps you away with all the distractions which are happening in your daily life and how art can actually be an escape from that.

2. Firstly, my Spanish really improved in this unit as I learnt a lot of new art related terminology in Spanish which further increased my vocabulary. Secondly, I also improved my research skills as I had to research about artists, their lives and their art and find legible and relevant information. I learned to manage my time because we had a lot of work to do in a limited amount of time which made me self reliant and also very responsible. Lastly, I developed communication skills, where I had to make a presentation about my research project and I had to communicate it to the classroom in an appealing manner in Spanish.

3. Analysing an artists work makes me really observant and I understand a lot of details and messages behind the artwork which I normally would not understand. I learnt about the message behind the artwork and why the painter made it. I also learned about why and hoe the colours and shapes create a message and basically it helps me analysing a lot of things around me in a very broad way which is creative and out of the box because I would also dive deep into the purpose and the emotion coming out of a certain painting which we really dove deeply into in this unit.

4. With learning a lot of vocabulary. I also learned a lot about the Indian and the Hispanic artists. I learned about how I should analyse a painting and what aspects do I need to take into consideration. I learned about how about how different styles these artists have in their painting and the message which is brought out.

5. My favourite artistic movement was by MF Hussain where he encouraged Indian artist to protest and paint about the portion in 1945 and I felt that was really motivation towards the audience.
