They walk around the hallways with earbuds in, sometimes not socializing with anyone in the halls. Once they enter class, they have their phones out checking Snapchat, TikTok, or Instagram. Even worse, when they work in Resource, it's as if they cannot even function without their phones. One time I propositioned the idea to drop their phones off first period, than pick up at the end of the day for a week. If they could try the phone break, they could earn a fun day with ordering in food and a movie. However, they could not give up their phones for 7 hours! The number of times I see students on their phones is overwhelming. Even though technology is beneficial for communication, it's causing humans to become less interactive in person. Think of the number of times you go to a restaurant and watch families looking down at their phones, not having dinner discussions, but texting each other instead! It can be overwhelming when a group of students in a school or a workplace use technology instead of working on their homework in school or doing their job in a workplace like a bakery when they are bored in school or do not see any customers in a workplace like HD Dudt's Bakery can be a problem to me. The problem with technology in school or in a therapy center can prevent people from thinking, learning, and talking to people when they have used it too long. It can be a problem in a Summer Camp or in a park when a group of people are talking and you are concentrating on technology instead of talking to people who you know or that you do not see too often in the summer. Technology can be an addiction when people feel bored or have nothing to do in a certain place like a park on a beautiful day in the Summer, a waiting room, or on a plane.
