The desire and want to be and fit into the ideal women, isn’t necessarily good. As young girls and women strive to make themselves into the ideal woman there is, “a personal standard of perfection” they seek to attain. Following these trends, goes against an individual's actual thinking, behavior, and appearance, until it reaches the point where the person they’ve become is an exaggerated and unrealistic view of their virtues and abilities.

 In all, the female gender has become dependent on these trends because it creates the ideal woman. Since human beings follow by example, many also feel obligated to follow in other womens foot footsteps, especially among the young. The rise of the Sephora girls has been an ongoing conversation in the last week. These young girls are participating in these trends that are designed for mature women. At the ages of 9-14, these kids go into stores like Sephora to purchase products that aren't age appropriate. It has become a concern nationwide, seeing that these young girls are mimicking older women, despite it not being their time to do so. 

All of these issues mentioned, trails right back to feminism. The new twenty-first century  feminism has been consumed by the ideal women. Jia Tolentino, writer for the New York Times, says in her article Athleisure, barre and kale: the tyranny of the ideal woman,“The ideal woman looks beautiful, happy, carefree and perfectly competent. Is she really?” Tolentino recognizes the fakeness of the ideal woman, it is this ongoing trend that only results in harming women. Looks are very deceiving, and the ideal woman is just that. For those who don’t precipitate in being this ideal woman, they are looked down upon and shunned by other women. This goes against feminism entirely, rather than bringing other women up it is breaking women apart.
