Percy shouldn’t leave Camp Half Blood because it was a place that could protect him from the creatures that still hunt for him. It also gave him the environment to hone his fighting skills. Before Percy reaches the protection from Camp Half Blood, he faces a Minotaur, confused and unprepared. At Camp Half Blood he is given the opportunity to learn about his potential opponents and techniques on how to defeat them. Furthermore, he is safe at the camp. No creatures are to enter unless summoned by someone on the inside. 

           In addition, after finding out about Kronos, he is in danger of being manipulated by Kronos and his evil ways; but instead of it happening to him, it happens to Luke, one of the main protagonist of the story. At Camp Half Blood, Annabelle, Grover and Chiron are there to pass on their knowledge to Percy and give him the guidance he needs to be prepared. According to Rick Riordan, he says, ”The point is that the borders are sealed to keep mortals and monsters out. From the outside, mortals look into the valley and see nothing unusual,  other than a strawberry farm.” This tells us that Camp Half Blood is a safe place for Percy and it will protect him. 

           Correspondingly, Camp Half Blood was a great place for Percy to learn new skills and hone them so the journey ahead of him will be easier. According to Riordan, he states, ”Chiron tried to teach me archery, but we found out pretty quick I wasn’t any good with a bow and arrow. He didn’t complain, even when he had to desnag a stray arrow out of his tail. Foot racing? No good either. The wood-nymph instructors left me in the dust. They told me not to worry about it. They had centuries of practice running away from lovesick gods. But still, it was a little humiliating to be slower than a tree. And wrestling? Forget it. Every time I got on the mat, Clarisse would pulverize me.” This gives a clue that Percy needs a lot more training in order for him to be prepared for the adventures ahead of him. It would also help him learn of the difficulties ahead of him that could slow down his adventures or make him more vulnerable to other monsters.

           Some may argue that Percy should not stay at Camp Half Blood and should move forward with his normal life. According to Riordan, he writes, ”For the first time at the camp, I felt truly alone. I looked at Long Island Sound and I remembered my father saying, the sea does not like to be restrained.” This informs us that Percy will be alone and needs to open up to the world by going back home to where he think he belongs. However, his life is no longer normal. As the Son of Poseidon, he will constantly be tested of his abilities, meaning threats will always be coming his way. Therefore, he should be prepared to face these challenges.

          In conclusion, Percy must have this protection and training in order to be ready for the dangerous adventure that will be coming to him soon. After finding out who his father is, a god forbidden to have a kid, and Luke is working with Kronos, Percy is in more danger than he's ever been. From this point forward, only training and knowledge will do him well, and where better to obtain these skills than at Camp Half Blood?
