         <description><![CDATA[<div>Students gradually develop their writing skills just as they gradually develop their reading skills.<br><br>When I was a preschool teacher, I watched students going through their pre-reading and writing stages.  Students would flip pages in books, pretending to read as they prepared to become readers.  Similarly, students would hold pencils and write random letters or symbols resembling letters to show they were nearing writing.</div>]]></description>
