"I did not want him to know me. I did not want anyone to know me."(14). The narrator(David) is describing is distrust with is father and the gap he feels between them. It made an impact to me as a reader because those sentences truly shows how much he wants to dissolve from everyone and everything. By making the thought two sentences it makes the reading think and digest David's thoughts and not just push them aside and 'oh, he's just a moody teenager'.

“but as a deathly somber Brian pulls over”(Perkins 266). The authors choice to put deathly somber in front of the characters name made the tone much more dark and sad. It went along better with this section and made the fight between characters much sadder and deeper feeling.

"like someone watching a train wreck, I couldn't tear myself away from the window." ( 92) I liked how the author chose a simile to compare a train wreck to not being able to look away from the window. The word choice struck me as a reader because it helped me get a better understanding of how the speaker felt at the time.

In this part of the story there was an unexpected plot twist of one of the main characters dying.

On the contrary to English Spanish syntax is seemingly intricate and serene. The syntax of Spanish is similar to English however adjectives come before nouns, and verbs, etc. Personally, reading Spanish dialect tends to enhance my focus, and broaden my understanding of the language as well. "Mi padre era fuerte, pero también era romantico. Le fascinaba la música. Tocaba con los ojos cerrados." (Quoted from : Carlos Santana) This excerpt essentially shows how passionate Carlos Santana's father, José Santana was about music and how he was so very skilled at playing it. I find this impactful because I myself also happen to be a musician, and this same feeling of passion has been felt by me.

hi class my name is pavel salter and i read shut up and write by Judy Bridge. Many of you may not know her but she is phenominal let me tell you. she uses syntax in thinstance when she states "she cocked her head out the window ans saw the last of the moonlight." the word choice here paints a visual picture of Maria catching the last of the sunlight and has great sentence structure leading up to it.

The authors choice of sentence structure gives us a good feeling of the situation. It explains in detail using imagery what was going on and how it looked outside. The word choices like lonesome and mournful add to the tone of the sentence.

The Klebolds were lonely?” (Cullen 133).
This stood out to me, because of the question the author asks. I can’t imagine how frustrated the families of the victims of the Columbine shooting felt upon hearing that the killers family was lonely, but I think the author does a good job of describing it, especially with what he continues to write in the paragraph.

“I dreaded walking to Alice’s home after school” (pg 255). The syntax of this sentence makes the most sense and puts emphasis on the word “dreaded” making it seem like it’s worse than anything he’s ever been through. The diction of the word “dreaded” also sets a mood of sadness and you start to feel sorry for him because he dreaded going to Alice’s house in fear of getting put into a different foster home. It made me really feel emotion and the fear he was feeling in the book.

Underwater by Marisa Reichardt.
A quote from my book that I think has a good use of syntax is when the character says “For three weeks, my letter has floated around in limbo with no idea where to go”(Reichardt 218). I think Marisa used good works to help the reader imagine how the matter has traveled. It could also relate to people, no knowing where to go or what to do. Another example of this is when the main character explains a typical week. “I tubing of dinner and details. Of baths and bedtime stories. Of TV shows and talking. Oh weekends and waffles. Of good nights and good mornings. Okay, so it’s not all about me. It’s about all of us” (Reichardt 216). The author really uses good examples and details, along with syntax. I also think Marisa choose a good word diction because it makes the reader understand and feel for there main character.

This quote is an almost unsettling description of how hungry this poor little girl was. She was starving and so emancipated that she cold not help to control herself over the sight of food. The word choice of "fell upon" and "cramming" truly highlights the starvation this girl was going through.
