 Euclid , ancient Greek mathematician from Athens. He lived and worked in Alexandria where he established a mathematical school. Preserved works are: Elements (geometry as a science of space) in 13 books, Data (on the conditions of setting a mathematical object), Optics (with the theory of perspective), etc.
 Mathematics is dominated by geometry, so numbers are interpreted geometrically. Euclid's exposition is strictly deductive, and it is precisely because of this consistency that the Elements have been considered the most perfect mathematical work for centuries.
 Axioms and postulates attracted special attention. This book contains all the knowledge and discoveries of Euclid and his predecessors and contemporaries in geometry, number theory and algebra.
 Also, 464 theorems have been proved
 In books from I. to VI. planimetry has been processed, from VII. to X. arithmetic and number theory in geometric form, such as the well-known Euclidean algorithm, and from XI. to XIII. stereometry.
