         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hello, my name is Adrian Rodriguez and I live in Miami, Florida. I grew up here and have lived in the same home for my whole life. Because of this, I've known my neighbors since I was born and some of my neighbors are like family to me. My favorite food is pizza, its always been my favorite because I'm a very picky eater. During my free time I enjoy playing video games or going to the park to play basketball. Throughout my life I've worked at three different places. My first job was at ColdStone, my second job was tutoring little children, and my current job is making passports for the government. My home MDC campus is the Kendall Campus, during my first semester I decided to take my classes in person but this semester I decided to take all of my classes online to save me the hassle of waking up extra early and driving to the campus, its about 20 minutes from my home.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>CER or claim, evidence, and reasoning is a framework that can be used for scientific explaination. The claim is a statement that answers a specific question, it is usually a very simple statement. The evidence is data that you use to support your claim, this evidence should be tested and should strongly support your claim. The reasoning is the explaination of why and how the evidence supports the claim, it should include an explaination of the science concept that produced the evidence. You can use CER to develop a conclusion to a scientific experiment. A conclusion can state the claim, evidence that supports your claim, and reasoning for how the evidence supports the claim. These three differ because they each do different things, but they all work together to come to one conclusion and support eachother. Claim, evidence and reasoning can be used on any type of science question that is asked but it can and is also used in the real world when asking questions about things that are going on.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The brown bear (<em>Ursus arctos</em>) is one of the deadliest animals in the wild. They can weigh up to 1,300 pounds but their weight doesn't stop them from being quick and versitile. They can swim, run up to 35 mph and even climb up trees! Brown bears have a mixed diet of berries, plants, fish, and small mammals. These bears have extremely large claws that they can use for hunting, digging, and climbing.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The video I choose was "When is a pandemic over?"<br><br></div><div><br></div><div>What stood out to me in this video was the steps that the government takes to prevent a pandemic. At first governments do nothing and allow the virus to spread without putting people in quarantine or developing a vaccine. They do this so that they can study the virus, because the more people that have it, the more tests they can run and figure out more about the virus. This step also helps peoples' immune systems get stronger after they get the virus. The bad thing about this step is that many people may die because of the quick spread and nothing being done to prevent it. The second step that the government may take is the "delay and vaccinate" method. With this method, the government issues quarantines and strongly recommends social distancing while they try to find a vaccine. They do this so that they can try to have a low life toll during a pandemic.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Brown bears primairily live in forest like ecosystems. They can be found in dense coastal forests, boreal forests, sub alpine mountain areas, tundra, deciduous forests, and desert and semi-desert areas. They typically don't live in great plains and do not like to be in wide open areas. In these forest areas, brown bears usually eat small berries, fish, nuts, mushrooms, and fruits. Brown bears can be found all over the world in areas of Russia, the United States, Canada, Finland, China, and many more parts of the world. The largest populations of brown bears are in Russia and the United States. Brown bears also hibernate for the winter, meaning they sleep for the entire season. To stay safe during hibernation, brown bears either find caves to live in, or dig dens to sleep inside of. When a plant dies, it will decay and leave behind nutrients that will be good for the Earth.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The padlet I selected was the padlet made by Melody Garcia. I chose this padlet because I feel like we have a bit in common. Melody and I both grew up in Miami, Florida and have similar goals in life. She enjoys helping animals and healing them and wants to become a vet, and I want to become a nurse practitioner. We also share similar views on how we see success, she describes it as "being happy, healthy, and comfortable" and I fully agree with that definition of success. I also like the species she chose, she chose the Florida bonneted bat. The species is a cute little bat thats ecosystem is very diverse. They have been found to live in the Florida mangroves, swamps, forests, lakes, ponds, caves, and even golf courses.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Before the course started, I was very excited to start it and was looking forward to it. I always enjoyed science courses during high school and was excited for my first science class in college. Biology is my favorite subject within science becuase studying life honestly just facinates me. I had high expectations about this class due to the fact that I heard nothing but good things about the professor. During the class it was a pretty smooth ride. The fact that we had no homework and the professor gave us many chances each class to complete his work was awesome.<br><br></div><div>Every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:50AM I was ready to learn with the professor and my classmates which was great. The professor had us create custom portfolios on padlet which made everything in the class very personal and the class became like a little community where we also learned from our classmates. We spoke about many different species and took multiple tests on subjects that the professor had prepaired us for. I came into this class with high expectations and honestly my expectations were not only met, but also surpassed.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>The course was a great entry to science for my college career and since I plan on becoming a nurse practitioner, the course helped a lot with learning a bit more about life. The course definitely changed how I view science and science courses. I am now more aware about how species change in their ecosystems, how species change overtime, how viruses and cells truely work, and many more things that we studied during this course.i also enjoyed the assignments where we had to work with our peers. This couse made me want more from science and I am very excited to take more science courses during my college career, hopefully I take some with Professor Revuelta!&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Brown bears, also known as Ursus arctos, have evolved over millions of years to become one of the most successful species of bears. The brown bear's ancestor was a small, omnivorous animal that lived about 5 million years ago. Over time, they evolved into larger animals that were adapted to different environments, such as forests, mountains, and tundras. One of the most important adaptations of the brown bear is its ability to hibernate. This adaptation allowed them to survive long periods of food scarcity and harsh winters. Additionally, brown bears developed strong jaws and sharp claws, which made them successful predators. Their fur also evolved to help them retain heat in cold environments. Brown bears also developed a keen sense of smell, which they use to find food and detect danger. Overall, the evolution of the brown bear has shown that these bears can adapt to nearly any type of climate and environment, these animals are truely great creatures.<br><br></div>]]></description>
