Its terrible enough on the back that its so short, it's even worse that we have to drag the chairs around (the teacher moves around while presenting different materials).

I believe a rug makes a big difference.
- Makes the area more attractive and inviting to the children (to the teachers too!)
- Provides physical structure: it's very clear where is the circle time area and where isn't. Perhaps with this in place, I won't need to rely as much on cupboards and tables to barricade areas. The place is already small enough as it is.

My children aren't great fans of reading. It's a real pity :< The problem is really that there isn't space for a dedicated reading area, and the shelf is not the easiest to retrieve books from. My children read at the circle time area/waiting area (both are the same place).

Shorter bookshelf with lesser books, soft colourful drapes hanging from the ceiling are great for softening the rather stiff aesthetics of the books, bookcase and all that.

Drapes, a rug and a cushion look great. Again I wish I had more space but now I'm really just complaining. As an alternative, if i place a rug at the circle time area it can also double up as a reading area before and after circle time. Possibility: During circle time then I remove the cushions and bring in the chairs, to convert the place from reading area to circle time to reading area again.

Stationary made more accessible to children?

I often keep my stationary out of reach of my children and take a stationary box out for most of them when it's time to work with teacher on something. In the spirit of empowering the child and also creating the opportunity for them to learn (read labels and follow instructions to take stationary, etc.), I quite like how the boxes are organised and are low down to the floor level for accessibility. The labels are big and obvious too so children can build the association between the words and the type of stationary. All in all, the teacher will eventually (ideally) not have to walk around to take stationary for the children. They just have to say the word. After all, the object of intervention is the children's independence in demonstrating such daily functional skills.
