Do you call them learning objectives or something different? Are they posted in your classroom? How do you make them interesting and engaging for your students? 


Last year, our school required us to have learning targets. They were to be posted in the classroom, but honestly most of the time they were just there and we did not discuss them daily. This year, our curriculum provides essential questions and focus questions. Again, normally we just read over them and don't necessarily emphasize or discuss them. This is my second year teaching and I am not coming from an educational background. I had never thought about the planning and process that went into creating learning objectives. I learned more about how to effectively create learning objectives with specific details and examples. I learned the importance of sharing the learning objectives with my students and different questions to ask about the learning objectives to get the students engaged. I also learned about creating multiple objectives for the students. I found this very interesting especially working in the inclusion setting. I differentiate the content, but I never thought about differentiating their objectives. 
These articles have changed my thinking. I thought the learning objectives were to be posted in the room for when administrators came around. They would know what we were doing and could see that we were on track for our goals, but I had no idea it was as important for the students.
