         <description><![CDATA[<div>For this activity, I would read the book Turkey Troubles. In this story, the turkey puts on many disguises. After reading, as a whole group, I would ask the students to recall the different disguises and determining the order of disguises. I would write each disguise on the Smart Board. Individually, students would put the disguises in order on worksheet by drawing the turkey and writing the names of the disguises. To close, I would have students share their pictures and describe the sequence of events. </div>]]></description>

         <title>The Very Hungry Caterpillar Video </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>For this activity, I will show the students a cartoon of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I will then prompt students to pay close attention what happens during each day of the week and show the cartoon one more time. Students will have a cut and paste activity in which they will put pictures from the cartoon in sequential order. As a whole group, we will figure out the order for Sunday-Thursday. I will have students work individually for the last three pictures. When students are done, I will have them retell the story to me using their cut and paste activity as reference. </div>]]></description>

For example, for The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the student might point to the picture when asked "Show me what happened next."</div>]]></description>

Students can focus on one part, instead of the assignment as a whole. For example, The Very Hungry Caterpillar has many days to account for. I can have students focus on two cut outs at a time, putting those in order before continuing. </div>]]></description>

On it we would review the important elements of retelling a story, such as beginning middle and end. After everyone makes their retelling popsicle, I will read a short story, referring the retelling popsicles when I get to that part of the story. After, students will use their retelling popsicles to help them retell the story to a partner. </div>]]></description>
