Hello fellow Pacific Oaks grad students! My name is Arlo Brooks, and I grew up in Pasadena. I went to several schools in the area, including Sierra Madre School and La Salle High School. I got my Bachelor's degree at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, OR, where I studied English and Creative Writing. I moved back down to Southern California and pursued a career in editing for film and television. At the same time, I also was employed as a tutor, both at a tutoring center (Huntington Learning Center in Pasadena) and independently.

I began to realize I was experiencing more satisfaction helping children succeed and learn than I was working as an editor in the entertainment field. I have decided to pursue education to further develop my passion and skills in working with kids. I've realized I want to follow a career path that helps others (especially those that have been disenfranchised or have struggled to achieve), utilizes my deep care for children and reflects my personal values.

I am still working as a tutor (as I have for the last ten(??) years) and hope to continue to find fulfillment in education and support for young people. Here is my wife Molly and I just after I proposed to her down on that beach in Hawaii!

For fun, I am also a musician and a creative person who enjoys comedy, art, reading, music, film, and spending time with my wife Molly and our hilarious and insane cats, Terry and Lucy(pictured).
