zoom out

Dear mayor, Ken Christian

In class recently we have been discussing and sharing our thoughts on the plan to turn MacArthur Island Park into new, improved and affordable housing. My classmate and I are addressing this email to you today as a way of expressing our opinions to you and the other members of council. We have thought long and hard about this topic and can’t sort out the mixed feelings. We agree that there are many people that can and would benefit from this new housing complex, but there is so many other nature related things that would be at stake. The skate park would be teared down, ruined and trashed. Meaning all of the skaters in Kamloops, would have no where to skate besides the city sidewalks. Running trails and geocaching locations would be sabotaged and destroyed. There are already so many housing complexes in town, why do we need another one? Why should we ruin so much beautiful land just for more houses, when there is already so many empty houses? Building these new houses may seem beneficial but just remember everything that is at stake. I hope that you guys will rethink everything and choose what would really be best for Kamloops.
Sincerely, Sabrina Guzzo and Pavan Sohal

zoom in

We believe that DiCaprio spoke his peace with a very well written, and convincing speech. Most of DiCaprio's examples of climate change were realistic and got us thinking. We also believe that he didn't only do a good job at stating the problems, he was also very good at listing effective solutions to the majority of the problems. He provided very understandable and realistic ways that we can be more environmentally friendly.

The problem that we are dealing with the most right now is the amount of Carbon Dioxide that is in the air. This is caused by the fuel that we put in our cars, power plants and refineries. Our environment is unable to handle all of the Carbon Dioxide, it isn't getting any better. The slogan we thought of is "overuse of fuel is not cool!"
