I had an awesome assignment in I think the 8th grade where a we made a brochure using Microsoft Word over our favorite book that we had read in class. Our  teacher was mostly grading for grammar, but we also got to work on our word processing skills, and review one of the books that we had read in class!

I am sure that you'll be having them write essays about the novels and things. Grammarly helps with the spelling errors and grammar errors that are typically made by most students. It also tells you how much of your paper has been plagiarized.

There are SO many ways to incorporate technology into this particular area. In another class, we have been using edublogs to post our opinions about a TV show we watch each week. This has been interesting, to say the least. You could post a topic for them to discuss, or give them the freedom to post a paragraph about something they find interesting or difficult to understand!
