The wife was old and ugly. Her stereotype was that she is wise, and knows best for the relationship (with the man). Her traits of being old and ugly help represent this because being old is associated with wisdom, and the ugliness would help emphasize this when she becomes young and beautiful in the end. And then finally, her being young and beautiful at the end contributes to the stereotype of what all men want, and also what they would get, if they would also give women what they want too.

It is many decades after the man had given his old wife control of him and she turned young and beautiful. As the years have passed, she has turned old once again, along with the man. Despite her having become old once again, which the man had dread so much when they got married, he still loves her and respects her as he had learned to do all those years ago. The two have had children, three men. The two, knowing what they do about what women all want, taught their kids properly. The wife especially made sure they knew, backed by her husband. The men would go on to get married, doing the same as the old man once did, giving their wives what they wanted most. And so in the end, they lived a happy, normal life, simply teaching their children properly, so that they did not end up having to go through what the old man did.

However, during the persecuting most of the time civic authorities voted rather than court ones. Back than it was common for people to get married in a church rather than outside or o the party floor like nowadays. Back than those who wanted to get married would often do it on the churchyard. During this couples didn’t need a priest or any other religious paraphernalia. They could just get married alone and say their vows to each other. However, some couple wanted a witness to be there with them. Getting married was a lot simpler than now. Some didn’t even believe have a religion so they just got a witness and said their vows.

The message Chaucer was trying to communicate in “Wife of Bath’s Tale” is how women desire to have entire control over their husbands. In other words, being able to have the power to be dominant over a man is the one thing women desire, they enjoy to have the ability to have what they want when they want it.

A modern example of Wife of Bath in today’s society would be your average women that’s striving to be independent and lead on with the life they want for themselves. The Wife of Bath was a woman that was married a couple times and desired to be in control of everything, in a sense she wants to be independent and in charge.

The pardoner admits to being a greedy fraud by selling fake ancient relics/pardons and keeping the money for himself. This is so specific to the stereotype that some people in the church abuse the trust you so blindly put into them because they're labeled as people of god who are supposed to be trustworthy.

The best example of this tale today would be 3rd (or 4th, I forget which was which) wave feminism, where people would advocate not for equality, but rather, more rights for women than men. This is similar to how the wife in the story (and by connection, all women in that story), wanted power over men in the relationship.
