Over the last 40 years, the migration crisis has been active due to the chronic government corruption, economic downfall, violence and failure to maintain a true democracy. A majority of the people in the Northern Triangle are living below the poverty line and are employed in jobs in informal sectors. Thus people of El Savador, Guatemala, and Honduras are deprived of social protections, insurance and basic human rights. The sexual violence in these countries are at an all time high and more than 75% of migrants with children have reported violence as the push factor of their migration. Recently in 2014, there was a Central American Child Migrant Crisis where the youth of these countries were fleeing due to increased violence and fear of being recruited into gangs. This occurred during the Obama Administration, where $750 million Alliance for Prosperity was given to aid the migrants and bring welfare back to the country. An aid of 4 billion dollars could reduce the power of territorial gangs and their extorted violence on the people. It can also begin the economic transformation. However, Call doubts if money is the only solution as previous attempts to provide aid has only led to the corrupt government receiving it. They believe that the U.S. has played a definite role in structuring the countries as impoverished. The argument claims that whenever activists and politicians have spoken up for the helpless migrants, the U.S. has always intervened to support the rich and wealthy to invalidate any claims that highlight the crisis in the countries. The article highlights that Trump had created the gangs that now reside and control many parts of El Savador as a justification for his outrageous immigrationn policies. Moreover, during her time as the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton had worked with other countries to ensure that the reformist President of Honduras would not return to power after the military coup of 2009. After the coup, organized crime had spread throughout the country, destabilizing the country even more. Borgos provides multiple examples of U.S. involvement in Central America that has led to their dysfunctionality today.

Their article highlights the cruel and discriminatory treatment of the migrants as they try to cross U.S. borders. When Albertina and Yaquelin fled Guatemala, they were welcomed with humiliation and threat of deportation by U.S. officials. They were called “illegal” and later on seperated for a month. They were unaware of the bill by Attorney General Jeff that indicates that crossing the border is illegal and children under will be separated from their parents. The separation of children has been an recurrent issue in the U.S. as it gradually got worse from Obama’s presidency, who had originally created this factor of deportation. My perspective lies within the ones of Edward and Borger as I strictly believe that U.S. involvement in the migrant crisis of Central America has been poor and unhelpful. Asylum seekers should not be mistreated to the point they’re being separated from their own families. They’re coming with unimaginable trauma only to be faced with more as they are put through hardships only for trying to receive basic human rights. The U.S. deportation policies are inhumane as they also treat immigrants horribly in the camps placed by ICE. I understand that we cannot accept everyone who comes in our border but why can we not treat them with basic human decency.  Contradictory to Call's recommendations, I believe the U.S. needs to do more than just dump money into these countries. The way they discuss their aid policies and actually act upon them is very different since they are cruel and unwelcoming to asylum seekers when they are at our borders. The Haitian Crisis is evident of that as the U.S. is physically harming the migrants and creating destruction among them to send them back as they try to seek asylum. U.S. policies are rooted in hypocrisy and corruption as Borger explains their involvement in funding or helping Central American political parties that only benefited the U.S. but created animosity for their civilians. The $4 billion aid plan is just a surface level solution to the situation as the Biden Administration isn't actually working towards providing sanctuary for these migrants.

Charles T. Call from source 1 discussed that the Biden Administration plan of $4 Billon as aid for Central America can be beneficial if it's put into the right programs and not in the hands of the corrupt government. However, source 2 criticizes the U.S. government and blames them for their intervention in Central American governments which only benefitted the wealthy. Borger depicts the U.S. has capitalist beasts that only work towards their own advantage and have basically helped create the hostility in Central America. Moreover, Edward in source 3 also presents another perspective of the situation where we take a closer look at what's happening in the U.S. borders. Contrary to the aid that Call talks about his in his article, the U.S. has failed to provide aid of the migrants that seek asylum in the states.
