         <title>President Lincoln gets a letter for the king of Siam</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>On February 3rd 1862 President Lincoln recieved a letter from the king of Siam. Inside the letter was the king of Siam wishing to be our friend and offering war elephants with Lincoln denied. He did call him his friend though in a reply back to the king.</p>]]></description>

The union successfully captured New Bern and secured it for themselves. not only does this city have a port it also has a rail road attached aswell.</p>]]></description>

         <title>The battle for Fort Donelson</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>On February 13 through February 16th the battle for Fort Donelson began. The union led by Ulysses E. Grant and the confederate led by Simon B. Buckner. The battle resulted in a victory for the Union. This was important because they had beat the confederates and Ulysses even earned a promotion for his efforts.</p>]]></description>

"Stonewall" Jackson for the Confederates, A battle within Port republic was a victory for Stonewall and his men. This was important because Stonewall and his men were able to go help Robert E. Lee to defend Richmond.</p>]]></description>

This stated all slaves within the united states were free and would give their family and themselves freedom if they served in the military.
