Third class consisted of diverse groups of nationalities and ethnic groups, although the largest number of passengers were British, Irish or Scandinavian.
-       Before boarding the vessel Third Class Passengers were given a health inspection to check for disease, lice and other infectious infections. The gates were present but they were there to prevent the third class from spreading disease to the upper classes.

During the 19th century the united kingdom was a powerful nation, possessing the largest and most powerful navy in the world. During the Edwardian era there was a lot of inequality in society regarding the social classes. For the third class in society the main sector of its population consisted of single mothers, considered the poorest sector in society. During the reign of King Edward brought a sense of change to the continued class systems.due to the influence of his reign the third class status was beginning to rise and the treatment towards them changed as they began receiving benefits from the governments. During the Edwardian era minor changes began having significant effects on the fate of the third class population and the treatment of women and the class divisions were beginning to crumble, Many saw the Edwardian era as the age of prosperity and elite.
