What interest me the most is the interaction with experts and professionals.
In our center is not a science but a professional, so the students get in touch with professionals, but not in action, just talking.
There is none of this experiences I have known before such as this one.
All this experiences inspire me of course. However in rural community would be not so much realistic.

The Teen Science Café is great idea. We have to try it in our school !

In my opinion, The Teen Science Café is an initiative led by the Science Centre in Malta, offering young teenage students opportunities to encounter a number of professional experts in different STEM fields. This is a great idea. What interested me the most is that a wide variety of topics and areas which were introduced by expertsas well as the practical activities so that pupils are involved during the learning.
I have never seen these kind os experiences offerd in my country but this is a nice time for investigaing that or its introduction in the school

Even though Science Cafés need a lot of work to organize such actvities in mt opinion it could be the right choice to put together effective and dynamic interaction. I tech in a small school but also in small school something similar can be held .Everyone could only take into account what the territory offers and exploit better all the local resources to be effective for young students.

The experience of Teen Science Café experience in Malta is fabulous, it is definitely a great way to meet and discuss informally. The kids need these spaces to deal with prepared people who can advise them and address them for their future work. In Italy, there are not so many places like these and the boys and their parents are asking to be able to activate afternoon workshops at school to meet their needs. It's a very interesting idea. I think this is a really good experience for all students because they have the opportunity to see closely how a scientist works, to observe how to design an experiment or construction and to try to realize it. It's a real task of reality that puts in place all the STEM skills.

In Italy we have the so called "Open day". In that day all the upper schools of the town send us small group as representatives (mostly students and some teacher) to explain their specific study’s path. In the hall you can find chemistry-experiments, drones, circuits, dishes…. But most the time the aim is “only” to inform students who are already quite interested in that kind of upper school.
It would be great to be able to organize something just like Science café, perhaps something more various, a sort of “what kind of job? Café”

1. I think it is a great idea for compulsory education in order to motivate students with a first face-to-face contact.

I think that one of the most important aspects is to create an informal setting in which students can ask their questions freely to experts. I’ve found it very interesting. The fact that it can be done at school reduces logistic organization and cost. It’s also a warm approach because students are divided into small groups and placed in circles close to the STEM professionals, not in front of themr.

I knew about thematic coffees conducted by public institutions or privates companies, but always in a professional environment, not an educative one.

I consider this experience one of the most suitable for secondary students and very inspiring to do something similar.

I find it generally very interesting! I think that the most important is that students develop communication and social skills by discussing with professionals and professors in a non formal and comfortable way that make them realise the human aspect of those professions.
In my country teachers use to invite professionals in the classrooms too, but the proccess takes place in a more official way.

One of the advantages of these “ teen science cafe” is that they are not expensive because what is sought is the contact with professional stem in an informal environment, so basically who provides the "material" needed for this dynamization are the professionals themselves, however I think the most difficult will be the selection of experienced professionals to invite, because the right choice of experts is, of course, the key to ensuring effective and dynamic interaction. I also find it very positive that by energizing these events the teachers of the STEM areas are present to help their students and also the specialists involved for a better interaction. I think the idea is excellent. In my school there are no events of this kind and I would like to try to implement this activity.

What I have found most interesting is that pupils do not have a book before them. This makes a wonderful atmosphere to learn doing. I know similar experiences in my region, there are the actives classrooms. The school go out one week to a place, normally at the countryside, and they study one week in this way, practicing different subjects or issues related with nature.

I find it to be an interesting event for two reasons:
1) The informal setting that puts students at ease and allows them to listen to and talk about scientific facts without the fear of being questioned;
2) The opportunity to learn by following the advice of true industry experts.

It was interesting to see that the students became more animtaed post Cafe experience as though they had been inspired. I think it would be interesting to see whether that enthusiasm continued for a period of time after the cafe and whether the experience influenced their choice of advanced level subjects. We do have a similar event with our career lunches. Professionals are invited to have an informal lunh with a small group of students interested in a particular career. This gives them the opportunity to ask specific questions. Places are limited and so the students have to say beforehand which lunch they would like to attend and why.In addition the event is just a careers event not specific to science. I think we could organise our event differently so that it was just STEM careers and so that students could attend more than one lunch.

The most intereting thing was that it was really simple. People coming to a place and sharing their experiences. There is no need for great investments or for great preparations.
I like the idea, and if I were to organize an event as such I 'd like to invite not only proffesionals but also different speakers who deal with the future of education and the future itself. I'd love to organize something like this invinting parents and students, so that they could attend to presentations, informal little chats with proffesionals as well as organising different workshops (robotics, stereolitographies...)

This initiative provides a showcase to STEM careers and motivates students towards such paths. I think that such science cafes is a valuable initiative to be used by other schools in collaboration with the science department within the university of Malta. Teachers should be helped to organise such activities where parents will be asked onboard as they will influence and guide their children to choose better STEM careers that are not so commonly chosen. I like the idea of the Teen Science Café. I think is a great opportunity for the students to meet various STEM professionals and in an informal manner, very close to them and in small groups. I am not sure if in my city there are similar things, and it would be a shame because there are a lot of interesting people working in STEM related fields here. I know about some Science Café enviroments that are outside schools and normally at late hours, so I don't think a lot of teenagers are there. It definitely will be worth to give them a try.

The most interesting from this kind of events is the informal context, the direct contact between scientists and students, and the possibility to participation of parents. We have Google Campus in Madrid, which is an space of coworking, but it is also a big café where people meet in an informal atmosphere to change experiences.
Conferences, talks and seminaries are organized every week, and sometimes they organice some events with youngster.
This informal atmosphere is the main advantage, because people feel free to ask, to talk, and they are not just listening to.

We had an experience in our copnservatory, wich was let the pupil meet in a big classroom to play concerts, or concerts-in-progress, only the part they can manage with, so the atmosphere is relaxed and they arent nervous to play.
In the same way, a place to show things people do about STEM subjets could be done in high - schools.

As far as I'm concerned, I found the most interesting idea that students are able to find a number of professional experts in different STEM fields, allowing them to see the reality of science in everyday life as well as its great utility.

In my case, I know a similar experience sharing knowledge from different fields of science when I have visited with my students a factory related to science or the university of science in my city, Valencia.

I hope that in the near future they will establish and look for various activities related to Steem's career in my country.

I found the teen Science Café a great idea. Unfortunally there is no such practice in my school but I think it would be interesting to introduce it among our colleagues and students. I'm sure that our pupils could improve and implement their interests in STEM careers.

In my opinion, the most interesting thing about this event, is the "no traditionl lesson": students meet specialists moving in the school and chatting in circle.

I like that children can know how the real professions are, described by people who exercise them because, sometimes, society shows a distorted image of the tasks involved in some of them.
In addition, it is great that students deal with scientists, engineers, architects ... and feel that they are normal people with which they themselves can identify perfectly.
It is also appreciated that the professionals who talk with them, feel passion for their work, this is essential to be able to transmit enthusiasm and interest to the students.

I find that the Teen Science Café is a very good idea.When students talk with scientist,engineer , etc. in such informal way , they can see that scientist is just a men like all others.This is interactive workshop where students can ask the question and try some interesting things that are part of STEM job.This is the opportunity for prime school students to learn how STEM careers works in real life.This is good way to demystification some stem jobs, too.I would like to take part in organisation of Teen Science Cafe in my school.

From my point of view the better characteristic of this sort of event is the facto of bring science to a natural conversation. The pupils can see the scientific as normal persons who do their job every day using STEM skills, and they enjoy with it.

I know that similar experiences have been implemented in some Spanish towns, but I couldn’t assist yet

I can imagine some informal talk for younger pupils, during the breaks.

I think The Teen Science Café is a great experience and idea. Students have the opportunity to meet different professionals in an informal context. Students are free to ask any questions they are interested in. I do not know of any similar experience in my area. However, I think is a great idea and I will try to implement it in the future.

YES, I like very much this initiative. It would be wonderfull to have such an opportunity in Italy, but I don't know about esperiences like in Malta. I have found most interesting the Science Café Format, the informal settings is the best way to involve engaging with students, and the lively conversation with a scientist or a STEM professional about a specific topic. However, in order to set up such an event in italian schools, the limit I guess is the budjet. Italian statal schools have no money for such events.

The Teen Science Café is a great opportunity for students to interface with experts in an informal environment, which allows through dialogue, to acquire and develop knowledge about STEM careers, but also to grasp the human characteristics of specialists.

I like to mention similar experiences that occur also in Sardinia, with scientists from different disciplines, including many young people, thanks to the Sardegna Ricerche organization. Knowing the characteristics and the aims of the teen science cafe, inspired me to organize such events not only in schools but also in other contexts, during summer holidays, for example, in a summer bootcamp.

The Teen Science Café experience is a great event to create a meetting point between students and professionals. Making a relaxed atmosphere, which invites dialogue and the exchange of ideas and projects.
I know an event similar to this one, organized by the University of Burgos and San Miguel company, where each month, is organized the meeting with a famous scientist, who expose him work, accompanied by an aperitif.
But this event is only for adults.
I believe those events are so interesting and nice, and they should be adapted for children and young people.

I found joyful the face of the student during the event. Their eyes seem to shine. For this reason the most interesting point were the comments of the student, in order to show how the Teen Science Cafè is full of benefits for who is learning, mostly for the motivation they get. My school have never set up something like this, but my colleagues usually invite some parents to explain their job at school, and it is always a lovely experience for students.

The professionals had taken lots of stuff with them so it was not just talking but also showing and trying out. It was interesting. In Estonia during the Researchers' Night in September lots of school organise science events. Many school also have science weeks and career days where similar events take place.

Similar activities are carried out at my school. We receive visits from parents who tell us about their work (scientists, university professors, firefighters, etc.). Many times, there are activities organized by the City Council, the University or a Foundation, workshops, seminars, etc. Other times, we conduct videoconferences with scientists or representatives of space agencies, such as Emmet Fletcher, from ESA (Emmet interview transcription https://2016space.wordpress.com/microentreviews/emmet-fletcher/), or this interview with Javier Cacho, from INTA (https://youtu.be/yy6WJ_vdiw4).
In other occasions, we make an excursion invited by scientists and universities of our city or others.
