"Many educators fear technology and use it as seldom as possible..." I have heard of virtually every tool mentioned on these pages, but I am proficient with none of them. I am open to using more technology in my ELA classroom, but I need more in-depth hands-on training to feel confident.

I really found my Ah Ha! moments in the "Collaboration Tools" section. I'm interested in storing student writing samples online (student portfolios) and I think it is mucho (I didn't want to write "very") helpful that students can complete their clocking online.

Writing roulette being able to do it in google drive. You Doodle would be awesome to help writers picture their writing.
This is important tapping into the energy in the writing class motivates and inspires kids. Doing something sub and creative makes the task more enjoyable.

Vic - Technology in the ELA classroom for me is a "not beating, but joining" idea. I love that you can use something like Screencastify and Screencast Omatic for helping absent students stay current. However, I am not a fan of technology being used in the pre-writing or writing processes other than word processing.

I hadn’t thought about using technology for drawing tools in writing. Many of our students would benefit from drawing but don’t have the confidence in their skills to be able to do it by hand. It may be easier for kiddos to be artistic with the assistance of technology.

The presentation tools were an aha and are important for both the fun and skills necessary for the students to be equipped with. Presentations should support the writing/thinking going on rather than just reproduce their words on a screen everyone can see.
