In Mr Fotheringay’s timeline (which we thought was during the industrial revolution) general security of the public wasn't strong. .

Even Though mobiles didn't exist, Radios did and journalists were always undercover on the streets

There weren't many interesting things that Fotheringay could have wanted during the 18th century

Fotheringay could have been captured for experiments as the government would be extremely curious of his powers.

Because mobile phones didn't exist, Fotheringay was able to remain much more discreet than he could have if mobile phones were a common device that everybody had.

Climax:

1.As the story starts in the Long Dragon Bar in Great Britain (not specifically mentioned where in the country) in the year somewhere around 1850-1860.

The story was set in a village as in the story we don’t encounter that much rush and crowds and metropolitan aspects which are found in a city, therefore people in here live their lives and there are not such people found which describes that the story was based in a village in Britain.

2.Then he was at the church street near the church in the village, after the winch incident and other things that he did at Mr. Gom Shotts' house then he went to the chapel in the church where the climax had just begun.

There he started showing his miracles to Mr. Maydig and things got suspicious when Maydig believed him in ease and started to do things for his advantage using the powers of George McWhirter Fotheringay. Then we could see that as he stops rotation of the earth and then he causes the end of time and he was able to end the whole of humanity and the world. The main reason for this is that different time periods bring about different
opportunities along with different obstacles. In this version of the story we are changing the setting to a modern day city in England.

Firstly, we need to take into account that Mr. Fotheringay was more of a man of science. He was not very interested in church and did not believe in
the supernatural, miracles being one of them. This can easily bring us to the conclusion that he would perform his miracle about something along
the lines of space exploration, global warming or even about things that haven't been explored such as the depths of the world's oceans.

Secondly,we have the media. Nowadays everyone owns a smartphone
which can be used to film a video or take a picture at a moment's notice.
The setting is also in a city which means that Fotheringay would get very
little to no privacy to practice his powers. This could spell disaster for him if
anyone notices him doing anything out of the ordinary as someone could
record a video of him and upload it on social media.

Miracles” would go like this:
Fotheringay was sitting at home still confused as to how he got his powers
and what he would do with them. He turns the TV on and starts switching
the channels to find a good movie to distract himself with while he tries to
figure out an explanation for his powers. He puts on a news channel to
catch up with the daily news.

While casually scrolling through the channels he suddenly finds a video of
a man performing “magic”. The news presenter said “Today near the gas
works, a man was found performing what could only be described as
magic. An anonymous person E-mailed us the video this afternoon. The
authorities have started investigating this weird phenomenon and hope to
find the answers to this strange person”. Fotheringay switched off the TV in
shock.
The only thing that was going through his mind was that he was now
wanted. All the things he wanted to do for the world were all going to be
trashed. He blacked out onto his sofa due to the immense tension he was
in.
He woke up in the middle of the night because of a nightmare. He sat
there,letting all his emotions sink in. All his feelings crept in, fear, anxiety,
anger and somehow in these feelings he found relief.
Then it clicked in his brain. He could disappear forever. He could make
everyone forget he was ever alive in the first place. Although he had not
practiced much, he felt it in his heart that he was ready to this one final
miracle. One last miracle to make everyone forget. No more police, no
more cameras, no more living in fear. He wanted to blend into the
shadows. He would live as a phantom memory his entire life. He gathered
all his willpower and bodily strength. Then with one last groan, he did it.
He had become forgotten. A new life right within his grips. A new feeling of
relief as a phantom memory.
