I feel this way because Byam and fought against Britain with the patriots. Also we are learning about the revolutionary war in Social Studies. Character vs fate is in the book because the rifle is making everyone fate different. The rifle lead Cornish to death for selling it to Byam. Byam changed and decided to go to war and he change to be more careful by staying at longer distance because of the rifle.
