A study was conducted to show the impact of PBLs on student achievement. This article and video was very enlightening, mostly explaining the study itself, rather than showing what all the students and teachers did.

I noticed that the teacher was the facilitator, asking questions and guiding students to solve a real world problem. The students were actively learning, very engaged, seeking solutions, and presenting ideas to city leaders.

My a-ha moment was when a seasoned teacher who had used PBL in her classroom stated that years later, her former students would come back to her and want to talk about the project.

They presented the problems/idea to solve and gave students materials and let them lead the learning experience.

They do not simply give the answer they ask thought provoking questions that will guide the learner to the answer/solution.
Students are engaged and are actively participating. The students are driving the learning experience, they are the thinkers.

In the two videos, the teacher is the facilitator of instruction. Learning begins through "guided inquiry" and then shifts into "student-driven learning". It was amazing the amount of cross-curricular learning that was taking place. Students are completely on task and excited about learning. I believe they were a Blue Ribbon School and that was so amazing to me.

Teachers would ask questions and facilitate the class room by moving around the room and engaging with each group.
