For instance, it is understood that the witches were burned at the stake, but burning at the stake was illegal at the time, so most were hanged, but not all. For instance there was an accused witch who refused to admit to the crime, and in order to force a confession, he was put under 1000's of pounds of rocks, having his last words being "more weight." The trials were even more crazy, with some witches flat out confessing to the crime, and the accusers making a show of the trial through imitation or screaming.
