Tea is native to Southeast Asia, specifically popular around Southern China. Legend has it (not proved) that Chinese emperor, Sheng Nong was sitting in his garden consuming a boiling hot cup of water, a custom in China at the time, when leaves from a nearby tree fell down into his cup. The leaves turned the water green creating the first known cup of tea. The emperor drank the green drink and loved it soon spreading the word to all.

When he did this, he told everyone he was purchasing land in Australia to throw his competitors off. Once Lipton bought land, he immediately began growing tea, and soon found that he needed a more convenient way to get tea from here to there making the production process even simpler for his workers. He invented a cable car system to transport the leaves which resulted in extreme efficiency. Below is a video of women working in the Sri Lanka tea plantation.
