In an article by Sanurag Barobhuiya, she explains how being an immigrant child and having mental illness can be really difficult. They fear that if they try to seek help from their families, they will be labeled as crazy or frowned upon. In the article it says "Ahmed further delves into why mental health “does not exist” in the Bengali community — primarily, because many Bengalis simply do not believe in it." Which is why many kids don't seek help when they feel this way.

As we know, many children have been separated from their families due to strict immigration laws and they go through many psychological challenges growing up. This is caused by the immigration system not taking it seriously. "our current immigration system does not contain the necessary guidelines that would prevent or minimize these types of harmful separations." It would be better if the system could think of better ways to keep families together instead of separating them causing more damage both physically and emotionally.

As we all know, being a child migrating to a new country is never easy and simple. Children and parents go through many challenges in the process of moving and trying to create a better life for themselves. During the process of migrating to a new state families can become separated in the process and it can be very dangerous and devastating. In this article, it states that between July 2018 and February 2019, over 200 children were separated from their families for little to no reason at all. Although in some cases it was because of minor cases or even old crimes..

In many cases, there are children who did not have to cross the border or go through the process of migrating to the U.S. but of course their parents have. Regardless of not being apart of the traumatizing journey, the children of immigrant parents still go through a tremendous amount of emotional trauma.

When parents migrate their families to America, they usually have high standards for their children to have successful lives now that they have the opportunity to do so. That can put an enormous amount of pressure on a child at such a young age and can cause them to develop anxiety. Most of the time these children are the ones who end up having to support their parents both financially and emotionally in these difficult situations where the government does not help much.

When families migrate into the United States, they tend to experience all forms of racism and discrimination both inside and outside of school which can lead to depression, stress, and anxiety.

In the article, it mentions how about one quarter (11.3 million) of he "foreign born" population is undocumented which leaves them ineligible for Medicaid or any government benefits. This is when children of immigrant parents avoid trying to get help with their mental health because they think their trauma does not compare to what their parents went through which is not the case.

In the 2018 article it states "more than 2,000 migrant children have been separated from their families at the US/Mexico border." It tends to leave these families with the feeling of guilt, despair, blame, and depression when reunited.

This is a common argument amongst US born citizens and I believe it falls under the discrimination category of my research paper outline. Many come here to live better lives and be successful. It can be hard for them when there are people who tend to doubt them or even blame them for certain things going on in the world. They get blamed for taking jobs in the US and people tend to discriminate them or call them names for no reason at all. They try to do their jobs and live their lives like any other person in this country.
