Drought : Yesterday I watched a TV programme about a natural disaster . It was about a drought that happened in Long An province. A severe drought seriously affected a large area in Long An province in early 2013. There had been no rain for 6 months and the temperature reached over 40 degrees Celsius. The drought had serious consequences. In drought areas, the trees and animals died gradually for lack of water. The rice paddies withered and the soil was broken. The people in affected areas didn’t have enough water for their daily activities. To save the desperate situation, hundreds of rescue workers were sent to the drought areas. They brought water tanks to help the thirsty villagers. Moreover, the villagers were advised to limit their outside activities by day. It was expected that the situation would improve soon.

Landslide: Yesterday i watched TV programme a landslide.The floods and landslides caused by heavy rain were reported across northern and central Provinces of Vietnam, resulting in casualties.

Yesterday i read a newspaper about a natural disaster. It was about a heavy flood that happened in Hue.Worst hit is Hue province, some 700km (434 miles) away from the capital, Hanoi. Police and soldiers have been using canoes and boats in Ha Tinh city to reach the most flooded areas to evacuate people and move property to safety. In this city alone, more than 20,700 people were reported to have been evacuated.In Quang Binh province, 130km away, flood water continues to rise,
swallowing up entire houses or burying them beneath landslides. On Sunday 13 households , about 60 people in total, were relocated, as an estimated 3,000 tonnes of rock and soil came crashing down on homes and roads.According to the statement, the local authorities affected by floods must coordinate with the Red Cross to provide relief goods and medicine in time to flood victims.

Yesterday i watched TV programme about a natural disaster. There was a “historical flood” that happened in Hanoi in 2008. This must be a year that Hanoians can never forget because the rain was so heavy and lasted for many days consecutively that inundated many streets of Hanoi. The rain was considered heaviest in the last 100 years, which caused people to suffer from a lot of damage. According to statistics, many families even suffered from inundation as high level of water flew into their houses. Offices or schools had to make emergency announcement to let their employees and students be at home to avoid any potential accidents that may caused by the pouring rain. . Luckily, after a few days, life began to come back to the way it was thanks to concerted effort of both local authority and many people of the city.

yesterday i watched a TV programme about a natural disaster. It was about heavy flood that happened in Quang Nam province . Recorded heavy rain due to a combination of a cold spent and strong winds started
at about 8 a.m . also reported 11,038 houses flooded in Quang Ngai Province. The worst affected areas included Binh Son, Son Tinh, Tu Nghia, Nghia Hanh districts and Quang Ngai city. One person drowned in flood waters in Nghia Hanh district. Also reported three fishermen were missing after a small boat was sept away.

Over 7,000 people were evacuated to safety from flooded areas and areas at risk of landslides in Quang Nam (2,535 people) and Quang Ngai (4,541 people).

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) said Tropical Depression ‘Invest’ is likely to bring heavy rain and strong winds over the coming days. Recorded heavy rains due to a combination of a cold spell moving down from the north and winds from the east started at about 10 a.m. The amount of rain was two to six times higher than normal. So that Thua Thien Hue Province received 1,300-2,000 mm during the period and you know that the rainfall of 180 mm a day is considered heavy. In this period, more than 130,000 houses, mostly in Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue provinces had been flooded, with some submerged by four meters. After that few hours, rescue workers have freed people trapped in flooded house and taken to safe places.
