Economic and Social Problems - Rome citizens have to pay large taxes in order to keep the big Roman military force, which causes poverty and problems in trade. Unemployment. Farmers could not compete with landowners so fled to city, but not enough jobs for everyone.
Weakening Fronteirs - Big size of empire, hard to defend. Could not communicate fluently. Knights followed chivalry. Knights were expected to be loyal to the Church and to their lord, to be just and fair, and to protect the helpless.
