The act of arguing is using evidence to support a claim. In the STEM fields, this means using analytical and critical-thinking skills to look for patterns in data, trying to determine what those patterns mean, and then using that data to support a claim. This skill transfers across all disciplines. In an elementary school science class, for example, if you give students a lot of different experiences with noisemakers—everything from tuning forks to speakers to whoopee cushions—they have the experience of collecting data. 1. Creativity linked with critical thinking and problem solving - I think this is a very important skills irrespective of whether a child pursues a STEM career or not. In STEM education we can provide opportunities for fostering education by using inquiry based learning activities, allowing students to be more in control of their learning as well as using arts in science education.

2. Communication and presentation skills. Students should be provided opportunities to develop effective communication and presentation skills. Presentation or use of drama in class can help increase students self-confidence while speaking in front of a crowd. In addition use of debates or discussions helps develop skills such as listening to the opinion of others, reflecting upon your own opinion and be able to defend it or change it and finally appreciating constructive criticism.

3. Collaborative learning. Most jobs nowadays require working in teams and good synergy is a must. Thus, we should foster this through group works in experiments, discussions, brainstorming etc.

Among the seven soft skills presented in the interesting article attached to the study materials, I believe that the most important are intellectual curiosity, flexibility and the ability to argue. Of course it is not easy to choose only three !!!
Why this choice? I believe that without the curiosity inherent in the characteristics of the human species we would have died out very much and would not have reached the knowledge we currently have. Curiosity pushes us to undertake new paths and make new attempts and even to make new discoveries just by chance. Flexibility is important because it adapts to change. Our society is changing rapidly and those who do not fit will be cut off. Flexibility also includes openness to others and not closure and isolation. Opening oneself to others leads to sharing knowledge and undoubted enrichment. Finally I chose the ability to argue that first requires the active listening of others and therefore the ability to propose our ideas in a strong way, but without overpowering others. Simply put, know how to communicate effectively.
How do I try to develop these skills in my students?
First of all, trying to conduct class activities in a collaborative way. Each unit of study is closed with a collaborative activity called "difficult task" (authentic task). During these activities the students negotiate, argment

To me, the most important soft skills are problem-solving, creativity and inner motivation for learning. In our classrooms, we should give importance these skills. Students should be free about their learning.

1. I think communication is the most important ''soft skill'' to promote in the classroom. We could promote this skill through presentation by students, we can make them work as small groups so that they can communicate freely and express themselves in a much more flexible environment.
