Here is a sneak preview of what I’ll be sharing at my breakout session at the upcoming Home Care Association of America’s National Conference:

• Don’t ignore your intuition! You spent years honing your intuition as a business leader – it’s an asset! Many employers often lament after being sued by a former poor-performing employee that their intuition told them to not to hire them in the first place.

• If repurposing a tried-and-true offer letter or agreement, always double-check to ensure that it’s tailored for the new employee (e.g., don’t use an “exempt” offer letter for a “non-exempt employee”).

• Make an internal record of your decision to terminate – emphasize objective issues, and if the issues are subjective, articulate the objective impact on the business.
