The Name Game (ACDV101)

This activity asks the students to look around and name three things they can hear, then two things they can see, and finally one sensation that they feel. I would do this activity in my ACDV101 class at the beginning of class once everyone has arrived.

Many of my students have shared that they have an intense class before mine and are often frazzled and chatty. This exercise would call them to quiet down and focus on what's going on around them and within their bodies. This may help to decrease some stress and anxiety and allow them to focus on the tasks at hand.

Source::
15 Mindfulness Activities - Mindfulness Exercises for Anxiety (goodhousekeeping.com)

Listening to relaxing music (ACDV101)

I would do this towards the end of the class, this would signal to the class we are wrapping up. I would play a YouTube video with lo-fi hip hop, or ocean waves, or soft classical music; music that is calming and relaxing. They can finish up their activities, begin packing up their belongings, or just sit and enjoy the tunes for the last 5 minutes of class.
This can help the students to decompress just a bit before either going home for the day or going to their next class.

Source::
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction: The Ultimate MBSR Guide (positivepsychology.com)

This is an exercise i wouldn't necessarily do in my class, but I would introduce it and walk my students through how to use the method for situations outside of class.
"Using the S.T.O.P. acronym is one way to manage your feelings and thoughts in the moment while calming yourself down to feel better. "

S: Slower breath
T: Thoughts and feelings
O: Open up
P: Personal values

I could definitely incorporate a lesson on this within the curriculum and provide students with the worksheet.

Source::
6 Relaxation Techniques for Managing Anxiety and Stress (positivepsychology.com)

Worksheet::
STOP-the-Panic.pdf (b-cdn.net)

Setting Intentions & Yoga (ACDV101)

I would do this activity at the beginning of class to help my students to stretch and set their intentions for the class before us. This is a simple 5-minute exercise that they can stand right behind their seats to do. The first few times may be uncomfortable for them but being consistent each class, they will begin to expect it and hopefully enjoy it.
I think that this will help my students to loosen up and decrease their stress and anxieties of the day since my class meets later in the afternoon. They may even decide to take the exercise beyond the classroom.

Source::
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction: The Ultimate MBSR Guide (positivepsychology.com)

YouTube Video::
5 MIN STANDING MORNING YOGA STRETCH | Yoga without mat | Yoga with Uliana - YouTube
