The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel located on the banks of the River Thames in central London, England. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the United Kingdom

It was inaugurated on December 31, 1999, to celebrate the arrival of the new millennium, although it opened to the public in March 2000.

It was designed by architects David Marks and Julia Barfield.

Originally, it was called the “Millennium Wheel.”

The project was sponsored by British Airways and built in collaboration with several European companies.

Height: approximately 135 meters (443 feet), making it the tallest Ferris wheel in the world at the time of its opening (it no longer holds that title, but it remains one of the largest).

Diameter: about 120 meters (394 feet).

Capsules: it has 32 glass capsules, numbered from 1 to 33 (number 13 is skipped for superstition).

Each capsule can hold up to 25 people and is air-conditioned.

A full rotation takes around 30 minutes, offering a 360° panoramic view of London.
