I think parents should be able to choose everything except appearance for their child because that would create a new form of discrimination and lead to the kid wondering if they parents would love them the same if they weren't genetically engineered. 
If you want to enhance your own genes, I see no problem with that. If you want to make yourself taller, you do that!
