Beatrice: Technology helps me structure my class. I use Canvas as a tool to create the flow of my classes. Technology helps me safe time. Class handouts, rubrics and syllabus can be easily changed. Technology helps me make my courses more accessible for all students. Technology ensures that my class preparations can't get fully lost. Technology provides me with an access to worldwide teaching ideas.

There are so many things I like about technology and teaching,

I think my number one thing is it help me to stay organize and be more productive. With the use of Canvas it frees my time by grading papers/test which allows me to spend more time with the students. I can also easily manage all of my classes from anyplace at any time.

The next thing I like is the ability to use simulators, games and Apps to enhance the learning environment. With the use of simulators my student are able to see and troubleshoot equipment that would be impractical to have in the classroom. The use of games and apps as a learning tool, which helps the students to be more engaged with the topics at hand.

And finally the ability to research any piece of equipment, I don’t need an entire library to house all the reference book need for my field.

Technology helps us teach our students by useful tools to keep them engaged and coming back to learn more. For example, computer games like Kahoot, where you can also use your cell phone, can help students in 2019 sometimes study more efficiently than older methods.

Through technology, we can facilitate the flow of information faster than ever before! Before my time, people had to access journal articles through one of those heavy print volumes. Now, when we teach people how to access a journal article, we just need to know where it's located online to gain access to it for free. Part of my job as a librarian is to help people know where and how to look for information. The ever-changing nature of technology makes this process fun!

Despite the fact that my work (in law/litigation) is entirely immersed in the use of computer technology, I must admit a certain longing for the days before the technology completely transformed the business. While the benefits of efficiency and effectiveness are undeniable (and inevitably brought these changes), it also worked to eliminate much of the supporting labor and the human interaction that went along with it. That said, I'm seeing how in teaching -and in the online teaching and learning environment, it can also serve to enhance the human interactive experience. I'm particularly impressed by the use of tools (such as this Wordwall) to create a feeling of real-time interaction, even though each participant can interact on their own schedule.

I have been resistant to Technology (computers) over my career, but have found that once I learn to use it my tasks do become easier. When I started in my trade I carried loads of files and books in my mobile office and had to search through it all to find what I needed. Using Technology everything can be accessed easily and found with very little effort and time. As I progress in my teaching using technology I'm finding that it is keeping me better organized and freeing more time to prepare my lessons and give more current and exciting class time with my students.

Recently, I've been interested in using what I call a "Stepped Approach" to class meeting time. That is, break the class meeting time into "segments", where segments consist of a "small lecture", followed by a "lab time". Then keep proceeding through the segments one at a time. What I'm hoping to do through this class and future endeavors, is to seek how "technology" can abet my efforts in this "Stepped Approach". I teach in computer programming, but I'm talking here about the technology that I can use to teach about the computer programming as I proceed through the segments of the "Stepped Approach" with each class meeting.
