AI can be a place to brainstorm and start looking at ideas or coming up with the barebones of a project.

A concern that I have is that it can easily allow for people to reduce the amount of high level thinking needed in school to grow

Students are already struggling to think for themselves. I am so concerned that they level of learn helplessness will grow exponentially as AI grows exponentially.

AI can be a great tool to support students learning in regards to being able to answer questions and help brainstorm different ways to approach things/things to consider. The concern is that students may rely on AI to give them information, taking away their ability to figure things out on their own/learn how to find information.

A concern is, if we make it so easy for students to generate answers or create using AI, when/how will they learn to think for themselves? Express themselves? Collaborate with other humans?

I think AI has great potential, but should also be used wisely as a tool. If I use it to generate a lesson idea, or a worksheet, or a funny story, I need to be prepared to follow the 80/20 rule and modify it as needed.

My concern with AI is that students will use it to cheat - think less and just get the grades without actually learning and thinking critically.

I really want to use AI but I really don't know how/where to start. It's hard to find time to explore this new thing the few things I've tried haven't been successful (probably user error).

I really like the idea of AI doing 80% of the easy work!

I am worried that students will stop thinking critically, especially in writing. I feel like students already have trouble expressing themselves through words and we are giving them another tool for them to be kind of lazy.

There are many possibilities for using AI to benefit the classroom. Students could use AI as a launching point, for instance to start to frame ideas for a project that needs to be generated. Then, if they took the ideas and made them their own, that would be utilizing AI as a support rather than a substitution for their own work.

As a teacher, it could be used in a similar way to streamline and help organize work. Many possibilities!

A common and obvious concern is how do we determine authentic work from students and verify their own application of knowledge and skills.

An opportunity is support for educators to creatively plan lessons and have AI develop matrices, rubrics, lesson procedures, etc.

I am concerned about a reduction in critical thinking skills and and increase in plagiarism. Resources are necessary but students will need to be taught how to use this resource and about the limitations it has. It feels like it could create more work for teachers.

My concern is that we use AI in a way that supports ourselves (students and teachers alike) and don't avoid it because it is new or dive so deep and depend on it for too much. Balance is key! And teaching that balance to students is necessary.
