Scott (response to data): 4/4. Students in my extracurricular expressed an interest in a particular board game and I made that game and personalized it for them. I would like to improve upon the variety of games we play.

Teacher Presence:One thing i do well is communicate with team mate and students, i try to make every comfortable with talking to me. One thing i can improve on is taking over more and allowing myself to stand out and doing what i know i'm capable of doing.
Check Understanding:Some things i may not understand which is why i may have a million and one questions are sit back like i'm lost so i would probably give myself a 2 for this but i try my best to find what i don't understand.
Response Academic Data:1 I give myself a one on any type of data because data is not my thing honestly and i'm trying to understand it as much as possible although one day i will get it but right now it just makes my head hurt.
Student Engagement4: One thing i do well with the students is try to listen and hear them whenever they feel the need to want to talk about something. I'm a very understanding person and want to make everyone as comfortable as possible, Ilove to see the smiles and what makes the student happy.I can improve by being firm and lean when it's time to be I guess but i have this soft spot and heart for some people. This is on me and i hope i answered this correctly:) 4/4
Pacing 3/4

Scott (teacher presence) 2/4: I don't believe in a teacher being completely in control and confident- I think this is a charter school thing that's kinda half true & half baloney. I would say that I feel confident working with my students only after having spent years being unsure and then trial and error and researching best methods and even now I realize what I believe to be the best methods will probably be seen as barbaric in 50 years. I think my path to improvement here is to continue to reject this idea that confidence and command can be quickly learned through some pseudo psychology technique, or business seminar/book/tedtalk/poster, and then implemented.

Scott (pacing) 2/4: I think what is implied here is the kind of urgency that I see some of my daughter's teachers practice in her classes. The downside is that if there is a group of students (my daughter included) that are struggling then they quickly fall behind. I think our strength at OA is our commitment to abandon pacing and quickly adjust to whatever learning difficulties our student(s) are having. If I was thrown into a CA classroom as a teacher I image I would score terribly here because I would see the group, or individual, struggling and I would try teaching different ways until they were caught up. Again, I feel like my improvement in this area is to continue to reject urgency of instruction and instead focus on a more holistic approach to teaching.

Scott (student engagement) 4/4: Fig gives me a lot of shout outs for this so I assume I am strong in this area. I haven't been told different. I think when a team is working on student engagement with a particular student that is where I can improve by being a listener and a better team player.

Scott (checks for understanding) 4/4: Yeah, for me this goes back to the whole pacing thing- OA is constantly sacrificing pacing for individualized or small group instruction and to me this is the epitome of checking in with a student to make sure they are understanding the content. I assume I'm strong in this area because I believe people learn in different ways and you need to find the right way of teaching rather than the belief that a student is not understanding because they don't want to or would rather be defiant. I really don't know how I can improve here because I really think about this all the time.
