Under each domain share a photo of a material that could be used to support children's development. For each material, provide a comment that explains: what skills children can build under this domain when playing with the materials and how an educator could scaffold children's learning with each material to help them build the skills as they are using the materials

Books offer valuable opportunities for infants and toddlers to develop language and literacy skills by exposing them to words and illustrations. When engaging with students through reading, it encourages active listening, verbal expression, and the sharing of their own ideas and thoughts, helping them make connections to the content of the book. As educators, it is important to highlight words and images to foster children’s engagement and understanding of the material.

These activities can include pouring, filling, and transferring to encourage fine motor skills and understanding of different concepts. Additionally, allowing children to explore sound through activities like banging, shaking, and pouring can further enhance their sensory development.

They also help enhance language, literacy, and memory. Educators can scaffold by singing shape/number songs, asking, "What shape is this?" "What shape goes in there?" etc., saying the beginning word loudly, and encouraging children to match independently and in teamwork.
