In 1791 Toussaint L'Outverture gathered many slaves in Haiti and led them to take over Haiti for their independence. These slaves had been being treated horribly and were fed up with being treated like dirt. During the war they took down French, Spanish, and British armies. After abolishing slavery in 1793 they won the war and declared independence from France in 1804.

Napoleon was a leader of the French republic after the French revolution had executed the man who started it. He rose to power and did a few things that would make some people happy, and some people angry. He ended all trade with Britain, created the Napoleonic code, and started many wars during his rule over France. He not only spread nationalism to France, he spread it unintentionally to other citizens of Europe. Some people think that Napoleon was good for France, some say that he was bad. No matter what your opinion on him is, he was very influential to Europe during his time as ruler of France.

The Congress of Vienna was a meeting held between many monarchs and leaders of European countries in the 1800s. The congress was held to stop the spread of nationalism caused by Napoleon. This was in hopes to stop any further revolutions. The leader of the congress was Klemens von Metternich. Metternich believed in conservatism which means he wanted everything to go back to how it was before. Before Napoleon, before the French revolution, before the enlightenment. He wanted an absolute monarch to be ruler. The Congress of Vienna worked in some countries, in others, it did not.

Otto Van Bismark was the Prussian Prime minister who rallied his troops with his famous "Iron and Blood" speech. He united Germany through nationalism and wars. Some of the wars of the German Unification were the Schleswig Wars (1864), Austro-Prussian War (1868), and the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871). Germany was separated into many different parts, the main sections were northern and southern germany.

Conclusion

In conclusion, these four events/people, changed history in a way like no other. Napoleon had such a large impact on Europe that English propaganda is still relevant today about how he is very short, yet he was average height for his time period. Europe and South America were changed so much during the 1700-1800s, people started thinking differently; in a way that allowed them to see how badly they were being treated and other revolutions showed them that they could make change happen if they wanted it. There are many more events and people that impacted the world during this time, but these things are some of the most influential and without them, world today would look very differently for a lot of people.
