According to Cleveland Clinic, diagnosis of schizophrenia includes detailed examination, which entails symptom examination, rule-out tests, and imaging scans (CT, MRI). The diagnosis is made when there are at least two symptoms among the five key indicators, such as delusions and hallucinations. The common treatment includes antipsychotic drugs (first and second-generation) and psychotherapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Sometimes schizophrenia in children can look a bit different. In another photo I posted, it show some early symptoms. This article states that, although this is very rare, it is very serious if a child does have it. The article further discusses signs and symptoms (early and late) and when to see a doctor. I feel that even though it is rare, it is important to know the signs that a child may suffer from this mental illness.

They would have to talk to a professional and the professional would have to rule out other health issue, do blood work and carefully analyze the child. Since it is very rare, with only 0.04% of children having it, ruling out other possibilities is very important.
