In 1620, a boat with more than a hundred pilgrims crossed the Atlantic Ocean to settle them in the New World. The Pilgrims settled in what is now known as the State of Massachusetts.

In the autumn of 1621, bountiful crops of corn, barley, beans and pumpkins were harvested. The colonists invited local indigenous chiefs and 90 other Indians. The Indians brought deer to roast along with the turkeys and other game offered by the settlers. George Washington suggested November 26th as Thanksgiving.
