The theme that chose for part of the book is competitiveness, but competitiveness is about being healthy but meanwhile it shouldnt get to where someones life is in danger. The reason I chose this theme is because in the first couple chapters of the book there is a lot of competition going on, and who is better. The reason why I say this is because Gene is jealous of Finny because he is athletic and has more abilities than Gene, but Gene has to be better than Finny and is a very smart person. Finny is then jealous about Gene being smart. There is always jealousy and competition on who is the better and bigger person. In conclusion I think each boy had very good characteristics and in reality everyone is equal just some people are meant to do things and that ok.

The reason I chose this work to put on my portfolio was because it explains a significant part about the book A Seperate Piece. The theme is a big part in a book, and also I feel like my writing and grammar was better than it normally is. With it being a significant part of the book because it is talking about theme, and it is one of my best responses so far I figured it was worth saving
