Percebe-se ainda que a sociedade moderna enfrenta uma crise sociocultural, pois não soube lidar com as consequências das profundas mudanças no seu ritmo de vida, gerando as doenças modernas (ansiedade, depressão, síndrome do pânico), o individualismo, o estresse, a agressividade e as dependências. Neste panorama surge a necessidade de novas ferramentas pedagógicas na educação das novas gerações, a fim de melhor adaptar-se à realidade atual. Além disso, o esporte ganha importância como ferramenta de inclusão social, pois mesmo que tenha como princípio o desenvolvimento físico e da saúde, serve também para a aquisição de valores necessários para coesão social e mundial, ou seja, possui papel educativo pleno. Cabe ao professor de educação física oferecer desafios e instigar a criatividade do aluno através da exploração das potencialidades do esporte para este fim.
Com isso, pode-se dizer que esta temática contribui para uma melhor formação integral de crianças, adolescentes e jovens, uma vez que explora a potencialidade do esporte atual em contribuir neste contexto. Alguns dos grandes desafios para desenvolver este trabalho referem-se às inquietações de cunho ideológico e as dificuldades de sistematizar os conhecimentos da área para a construção da formação humana em esportes.
Sugere-se que novas pesquisas possam ser realizadas abordando esse tema, a fim de ampliar e consolidar as evidências dos benefícios da prática esportiva para a população em questão.
