Nails and hands- Important that your nails are short as they harbour bacteria and could scratch somebody. Hands must be clean and sanitised.
Oral hygiene - Unpleasant for the client if your oral hygiene is not good.
Feet and shoes - Not only do you want to be comfortable but your feet wouldn't be protected in strappy heels as opposed to sensible closed toe shoes.
Hair - Hair can be distracting and if not tied back it can dangle in the way of the treatment and be unpleasant.
Posture - Posture is important so you don't hurt yourself and so that you look professional to clients, if you hunch while doing nails you will hurt yourself after a while. Can cause RSI.
Jewellery - Can scratch somebody, it can also harbour bacteria which is very unsanitary.
Uniform - Uniform is important to look professional and put together, it is also a form of PPE so that your usual clothes wouldn't be damaged by chemicals.

personal hygiene is important because bad personal hygiene can lead to infections and bacteria spreading around the salon.

nails and hands hygiene are important because washing our hands and in our nails can prevent any infections or bacteria spreading around the salon and onto the equipment which can lead to bacteria and germs spreading around the salon. this can then leads to cross infections.

oral hygiene is important because this prevent any germs in the mouth going near your clients in the salon and going near your other therapists. leaving germs and bacteria in your mouth can lead to germs spreading in other places in your body which then leads to viruses and infections.

feet and shoe hygiene is very important in a salon due to bacteria spreading in the salon from your feet and shoes which can then lead to bacteria and germs being in the salon. poor feet hygiene can also lead to fungal infections and even scabies in the feet.
hair hygiene is very important for everyone to have a good hair hygiene due to lice and bacteria being able to spread easily from one persons head to another and then leading to germs being left on others.

negative posture can lead to severe back pains and injuries and always looking presentable and ready to work in a salon is a must. if you look presentable, clients will take you more seriously and be more intrigued to come into the salon.

jewellery being worn in the salon is not hygienic due to the germs and bacteria that can hide between necklaces or rings. this can therefore lead to a huge spread in cross infection if therapists are wearing jewellery in the salon especially when carrying out treatments and touching the equipment with dirty jewellery.

having a smart uniform and a clean uniform in a salon is an essential due to the hidden germs and bacteria on your clothing. if clothing is not washed and dried and ironed before entering a salon, the presentation will not be up to scratch and all the germs and bacteria from the day before will be lingering on your clothes and spreading to other places and people in the salon. when carrying our treatments, you are in close contact with a number of clients and so is your uniform. this is why uniforms must be cleaned and sterilised by being washed every time after use.
