-Evaluation and Assessment - Evaluating the effectiveness and need of library reference services based on user needs is an important in maintaining current and relevant reference materials and services.

All libraries have their own policy regarding copyright and it is important for the librarian to be aware of those policies.

Copyright Exceptions & Limitations:
-Public Domain - Includes ideas, facts, and government documents
-First sale doctrine - Lending and borrowing books with other libraries.
-Fair Use - Ability to legally use copyrighted material for research and educational services.
-Section 108 Exceptions - Reproduction of copyrighted materials to preserve them.
-Orphan Works - Copyrighted material where the author cannot be identified.
-Open Access - Published material that is freely accessible through internet, often through a subscription purchased by the library.
-Creative Commons - Organization that handles licensing and tools for authors to waive their rights to ownership of their material.

3. Protect each library patrons right to privacy and confidentiality regarding the information they are seeking and resources referenced.
4. Respect the rights of intellectual property and the use of information.
5. Respect and treat co-workers with respect and fairness.
6. Put the library patrons needs first and not push private interests.
7. Do not allow our personal views to interfere with assisting a library patron in meeting their needs.
8. Maintain and continue to develop our knowledge and skills by encouraging and providing professional development of co-workers and future librarians.

5. All people have the right to use a library despite background, views, age, disabilities, etc...
6. Libraries with places for displays and meeting rooms are to make them available for all patrons despite their connections with other people or groups.
