Hello! Hello! I am Lyam Czarina D. Rosario, from Grade 11- GARNIER, ABM strand. I am mainly called Yam by my friends for short. My birthday is May 13, 2008, making me 16 this year. I am originally from Butuan City, but I decided to take a leap of faith and moved here to Davao to continue my senior years at Ateneo de Davao University, where I received a scholarship granted by the top 500 exam.

Fun facts about me:

I love to watch movies especially romcoms because of the happy feeling I get when the main characters get their happy ending.
I am also fond of drawing whenever I feel stressed as it is a stress reliever for me.
I love doing my hair everyday and I made it a goal to have different hairstyles everyday this school year.

I often read webtoons or mangas to destress and take inspiration on the artists' art-style to try and improve mine. Moreover, I study how the writers write their stories and I try and guess the possible ending.

I typically consume music in a daily, whether I would be cleaning, studying, or simply just resting. As of now my favorite genre is indie but I also opt to rock or alternative indie. I enjoy how my mind wanders whenever I would listen to music.

To get over my homesickness, I would comfort myself by watching rom-coms or anime with my roommates. I watch movies through Netflix or just recently by going to the cinema.

Being away from my family and friends is a struggle, I thought I wouldn't feel homesick at all, but they are my comfort crowd so I the ended up missing them everyday. However, with modern day technology distance is no longer problem when it comes to communication.

The online courseware of AdDU came to me as a culture shock especially that I came from a public school. It was new to me getting my handouts in one place but it did train me to learn independently. Moreover, I enjoy having a flexible time to study giving me a chance to take breaks anytime. I also use other platforms when studying especially when I have an upcoming quiz.

Why do I like these media?

These media provide me comfort through though times, it's a way for me to cope and have a temporary escape from whatever is troubling me. In addition, it's already a part of my routine and who I am.
How are these media affecting me? Is this healthy? If yes, how come? If not, what steps should you take to change it?

It positively impacts me as it is a way to cheer me up. Through movies, it is a source of encouragement. For example, Elle Woods from Legally Blonde with her iconic line, "What like it's hard?" after getting accepted into Harvard. She exemplifies anyone who can succeed with proper determination and motivation. In addition, through my media consumption, I have educated myself on behaving appropriately in public and online.

I think my media consumption is healthy as it doesn't harm me emotionally, mentally, and physically. I control what I consume and accept into my life.
