There is no such opening-it would be better to exit through a volcano. The signal is lost, and the Virgil is presumed dead-but the Virgil has one last card to play. They send out an ultrasonic signal.Like at the start of the movie, the whales sing around them/are attracted,which Rat figures out. They are rescued,but the government covers the whole thing up as a orbital wobble, so no one will know what happened to the Virgil or it's crew.Rat gets pissed off and leaks everything to the world using his own whisleblowing program to give the information to the world.
