In this piece the Artist intent is unnecessary and would take away from the viewers experience of the performance. If the intent was know prior to viewing this work it would take away the confusion and shock that this piece causes the viewer to experience. It is not important to know why  Rirkrit Tiravanija is serving Pad Thai, what is important is how the viewer feels walking into a gallery and expecting visual pieces to look and then being blindsided by being served food with no physical art pieces to be seen.
